Biography

Mikal Johnson was born at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, California in 1968, the middle child of Mark and Charla Johnson. He grew up in Petaluma, California until, at the age of nine, his family moved to Federal Way, Washington.

He has been writing short stories and poetry since high school. He had several poems published in anthologies in the early 1990s and his first novel, War of Grace, was self-published in 1997. A short story, Future Ghosts, was the introductory feature in the premiere issue of the magazine Revelations in 2003 and he worked as a historical consultant on the web-series Millennium: Apocalypse, in 2006. Also in 2003, he released a collection titled Not the Worst Poetry followed in 2005 by Not the Worst Short Stories.

His newest novel, The Winds of All Worlds, a NaNoWriMo award-winning novel (written under the working title: All Along the Watchtower) is available at Amazon.com (ISBN: 978-1-461-1893-43), and should hit the shelves of your local bookstore, sometime in the next couple of months.

Mikal lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with his wife, Dawn, and his two children. Mikal enjoys time with family & friends and spending time with their Cocker Spaniel, Cooper.



On May 22nd, 2014, Mikal was ordained as a minister with Open Ministries.
